The Slow Road Is Paying Off For Phillip Dutton And Plantation Winner Possante – The Chronicle of the Horse

It was a Dutton family affair at last weekend’s Plantation Field International (Pennsylvania), as patriarch Phillip Dutton won the CCI4*-S division aboard Possante and earned top-10 finishes on two other mounts, while his daughter Olivia Dutton, coming back from a serious riding accident this summer, placed fifth and 17th, respectively, in the CCI3*-S. 

Plantation is just 15 minutes down the road from West Grove, Pennsylvania, where Phillip and his wife Evie run True Prospect Farm. The couple has three daughters, including Olivia and her twin Mary Dutton, 24, and Lee Lee Jones, 31. 

Phillip, in a quick chat while taking a break from training, said Plantation served as a good warm up for “Impy,” a 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood (Namelus R—Wendelien, Ontangelo R) owned by The Possante Group, and his seventh-placed finisher Denim, a 10-year-old Holsteiner (Dinken—Celia II, Ibisco) owned by Ann Jones, Caroline Moran, Neill Sites and Ann Lapides, before both geldings tackle the Morven Park International CCI4*-L, slated for Oct. 9-12 in Leesburg, Virginia.
